You may be an avid user of Amazon, HBO, eBay, and other main stream content providers and retailers. And when you cue up the others (Hulu or Walmart), does it ever suggest stuff (movies, items, etc) you’ve already consumed on the previously mentioned providers? Be it price, availability or simply the connection I have with the provider, I will always purchase from multiple sources. And once I do from eBay, for example, there is nothing more annoying than seeing a “don’t forget” or “pick up where you left off” recommendation of that same item when I visit Amazon next. Is the struggle so real that I would take extra steps to prevent that annoyance from happening? I think may be.
What if we make a tool that lets me tell the masses what I’ve shopped, watched, etc? And knowing that data is the source of everything…particularly $$$ these days, I could make money by providing such information. Meaning, the data gets sold/shared with the preferred parties and my experiences across the board get better. When they are sold, I am reimbursed accordingly.
